From note with photograph - This photograph shows the Southern Pacific Yard Office, Roseville, California as it appeared in 1906. In 1925, the building was moved to a site near Lincoln and Atlantic Streets. In 1952, the offices were moved once again to a site on Sixth and Vernon Streets. Several years later they were replaced by more modern facilities.

Description
This three-story Southern Pacific Clubhouse in Roseville, California was formally opened on June 6, 1908. The basement, or ground floor contained the kitchen and grill room. Reading and billiard rooms were on the second floor and sleeping rooms were on the third floor. This building was torn down in 1948 when the Seawell Underpass was being constructed.

On the tracks ahead of the engine sits a snow plow, used to clear the tracks of snow as they wound through higher elevations on their way eastward.

From note with photograph - This is a photograph of the Roseville, California railroad depot as it appeared shortly after its completion in 1907. Pacific Street is seen in the background. This depot was located below the traditional "Y" of the railroad tracks. In 1913, the depot was extensively remodeled and returned to the "Y" formed by the junction of the North bound and East bound lines of the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks.

From note with photograph - This is a photograph of one of the giant articulated Mallets which replaced the earlier day engines. The pictured engine arrived in Roseville in about 1909. It caused so much excitement among the railroaders that the general foreman said: "Let's all stop and have our picture taken." After the arrival of this Mallet, the steam Mallets became a common fixture in the Roseville yard until the 1950`s when they were replaced...

In 1913, the depot and trees were moved once more, back to the site of the original depot. This photograph depicts the operations to move the palm trees.
